As you can see it also has the letters “MC” beneath it. Elsewhere on the chart, you will also find that same symbol with different letters, IC, AC, or DC.(Sometimes ASC or DSC)

Here’s Why…
What Are The Letters On An Astrocartography Chart?

Astrocartography maps show how planetary energies play out in different parts of the world, and each key line—ASC, DSC, MC, IC—represents and offers insight into different areas of life.
These lines correspond to important points in the natal chart, and when placed on a map, they reveal how various locations may influence a person’s experiences in areas such as relationships, career, home, or family.
Here’s an overview of the ASC, DSC, MC, and IC Lines in Astrocartography:
The MC Line In Astrocartography
Your Midheaven (MC) Line is the point where your career, ambitions, and public life can truly take off. The MC line marks the places where your professional goals get a cosmic boost, and your reputation is on display for all to see.
Whether you’re chasing a big dream, building your legacy, or stepping into a leadership role, your MC line is your VIP access to success and recognition. Think of it as your personal career “spotlight zone” — it’s where the universe wants you to shine your light in the world.
✨(Paired with Jupiter it is considered the Midas Touch Line in business.)
The IC Line In Astrocartography
Looking to reconnect with your roots or find a sense of inner peace? The Imum Coeli (IC) Line is your go-to guide for this. This line marks the places on Earth where your home, family, and private life are deeply nourished.
It’s all about finding a sense of true belonging — whether that’s a cozy home, a close-knit community, or a place that helps you feel emotionally grounded. Think of the IC line as your personal “soul sanctuary” — where you can recharge, reflect, and get back to what really matters.
✨(Paired with a Moon Line it can be your Birthing Line)
The ASC(AC) Line In Astrocartography
If you’re looking for a place where you feel extra like yourself, follow your Ascendant (ASC) line in Astrocartography. This line marks the spots on the globe where your personality shines brightest and where you can make a bold, authentic entrance. Think of it as your personal “red carpet” — it’s the place where you effortlessly stand out, connect with others, and express your true self.
Whether you’re seeking fame, confidence, or just to feel at home in your skin, your ASC line might be the key to finding a location where your energy flows freely and your sense of self is supercharged. If you’re ready for a bit of a cosmic glow-up, the ASC line might be for you.
✨(Paired with your Sun it is the Fame or Celebrity Line)
The DSC(DC) Line In Astrocartography
Looking to find or deepen your relationships? Follow your Descendant (DSC) line. This line marks the places where you’re most likely to meet people who challenge, complement, and partner with you — whether in love, business, or friendship. The DSC line is all about connection and balance, pulling you into partnerships that feel fated or destined.
Think of it as your “relationship radar” — where the universe helps bring the right people into your life. If you’re ready for a meaningful connection, see where your DSC line leads and let your stars guide you toward your perfect match.
✨(Paired with Venus This is your Soulmate or Marriage Line)
Why The Letters On An Astrocartography Chart Matter
While Jupiter, for example, is generally a fairly tame line all the way around –when it comes to harsher or more intense energetic lines like Mars, Uranus, or Saturn, the positioning of this line(the letters) REALLY matters. Here’s why.

As you can see in this Birth Chart , the chart is separated into Houses. Each house represents different aspects of our lives- the 10th house is career for example, and the MC line is also associated with career, legacy, public image, etc.
Each line is associated with different aspects of our lives. The planets hold their own specific energetics, some of which are better suited for certain areas(houses) of our lives.
How It Plays Out
Take for example the planet of Mars. Mars is associated with war, aggression, breaking barriers, movement, severing, etc. When that energetic is pointed toward the MC Line it can indicate moving forward, breaking through glass ceilings, being a leader in a field, and pushing forward into new and exciting territories.
Now, point that same intense energetic toward relationships or family/home life, it is a different ball game. Mars along the DSC can indicate power struggles, strife, conflict, aggression, and even divorce(severing.) Yikes.
***This is especially applicable if you already have that placement in your chart. For example, I already have Uranus(the disruptor) in my 4th house of home/family. When I moved along a location with Uranus on my IC line–well let’s just say I moved more places than I actually lived.
So line location definitely matters!
To Sum It Up…

When choosing a location to live or work along, it’s definitely important to not just glance at the planets, but explore the positioning of them as well. The letters on the line matter so be sure to give them a once(or twice) over to be sure to find the most conducive location to achieving your goals.
